DNB in Paediatrics & Child Health
The Departmant of Pediatrics at Nirmal Hospital Private Limited was accredited by the National Board of Examination (NBE) to commence DNB (Pediatrics) course in 2011 after successfully establishing Fellowship programs in Pediatrics & Neonatal Intensive Care (2009). Nirmal Hospital is the only hospital in South Gujarat and only the second hospital to be accredited to run DNB Paediatrics program in the state of Gujarat.
The National Board of Examinations was established in 1975 with the prime objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by elevating the level and establishing standards of post graduate examinations in modern medicine on an all India basis. There are more than 149 recognized Medical Colleges in the country. In addition to Postgraduate teaching institutions under MCI, there are 450 accredited institutions imparting training in various Broad and Super specialities for the award of postgraduate qualification in Broad and super specialities. The Board at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in 54 disciplines approved by the Board for the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for post graduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions. The setting up of a National Body to conduct post graduate medical examination was intended to provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the objective for which post graduate courses were started in medical institutions. Moreover, intra country and international comparison is facilitated with the availability of commonly accepted evaluation mechanism.
RECOGNITION OF DNB QUALIFICATIONS:
The Nomenclature of the degree awarded by the National Board of Examinations is called the “Diplomate of National Board”. The list of recognised qualifications awarded by the Board in various Broad and Super specialities as approved by the Government of India and included in the First Schedule of IMC Act 1956 is as at Annexure II.
The Diplomate qualifications awarded by the National Board of Examinations have been equated with the postgraduate and post doctorate degrees awarded by other Indian Universities by the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; vide their notifications issued from time to time Annexure II.. The holders of Board’s qualification awarded after an examination (DNB Final) are eligible to be considered for specialists post in any Hospital including training/teaching institution.
The hospital has been recognized as a centre for conducting 2 year DCH (Diploma In Child Health) course being run by CPS (College Of Physicians & Surgeons of Mumbai). The hospital has been authorized to enroll two candidates every year.

- Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) vide GR Extraordinary 4-B dated March 15, 2010 through notification No. PGM. 1010/CR-18(Part 2)/10/EDU-2 read with the MMC Act 1965.
Nirmal Hospital Pvt. Ltd. PICU is accredited by IAP-Critical Care Chapter for level 3 Pediatric Intensive Care.
IAP- Critical care Chapter and Indian Society of Critical care Medicine (Paediatric Section) accredited our hospital for One Year Indian Diploma In Paediatric Critical Care Medicine (IDPCCM) since October 2008.
Nirmal Hospital Pvt. Ltd. has State of the Art 7 bedded level 3 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. PICU receives 800 admissions per year. Paediatric Department has 30,000 OPD attendance and 3,500 indoor admissions per year. Each bed has attached Multi-Para Monitors and facility to monitor Invasive Blood Pressure and Central Venous Pressure. The PICU is equipped with 4 conventional ventilators and shares two HFOV High frequency Oscillator Ventilators with NICU. PICU has approximately 800 admissions in a year with mortality rate of 8-10% which is at par with the National Statistics. In addition to the routine procedures Central Venous Line insertion, Arterial canalisation, ICD insertion, TPN administration, peritoneal dialysis and PICU can support Hemodialysis as well as Non Invasive Ventilation. PICU has also acquired Flexible Fiber Optic Bronchoscope and it will be used where indicated in managing children with respiratory problems. PICU staff actively supports the transport of sick children from the Surat city and from the towns with in radius of 100km outside Surat.
Dr Nirmal Choraria (Head of PICU & Chief Paediatrician) and Dr Rajiv Agrawal (Senior Paediatrician). They both have vast experience in managing all types of critically sick children. PICU is supported round the clock by qualified and experienced Paediatricians caring children admitted to PICU.
MD / DNB in Paediatrics (with minimum one year professional experience). Fellowship commences on 31st October every year.

NEONATAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM:Download Form
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is accredited by National Neonatology Forum of India. IAP-Neonatology Chapter recognized our institution in November 2008 for IAP-Neonatology Fellowship Program for two candidates every year commencing from January 2009.
The Neonatology Chapter of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics is a subspecialty chapter of the Academy, which deals with academic, scientific and community activities conducted by the Academy for the care of newborn babies in the country. Beginning 2008, the Chapter started one-year Fellowship in Neonatology with the purpose of providing specialized training in Neonatology to students who have completed their post graduation in Pediatrics. The program will be conducted for candidates who are employed fulltime, as resident doctors, for a period of one year, in the institution, and the institution will conduct the training to be followed by Central examination.
Pediatric Critical Care Nursing
Nirmal hospital has been approved by PCCC to conduct"Fellowship in Paediatric Critical Care Nursing"The Pediatric Critical Care Council (PCCC) shall award Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Nursing to the candidates who have completed training in Pediatric Critical Care in PCCC/ ISCCM accredited centers anywhere in India.

- Candidates should have GNM/B.Sc/M.Sc nursing or general nursing with or without midwifery.
- It must be noted that the selected candidates would be subjected to the rules and regulations of the hospital regarding accommodation, library fees etc.
- Admission process- Entrance Test and Interview.
